Points of Interest
Jabiru

Nestled near the spectacular Arnhem Land Escarpment in World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park, Jabiru was established as a mining town in the 1970s and is the only Australian town set inside a national park. Jabiru is a great stepping-off point for excursions into Kakadu. The people of Jabiru take pride in their unique town and enjoy a relaxed and comfortable lifestyle.

Ubirr Rock

Ubirr rock overlooks the East Alligator floodplains and is a great spot to view the magnificent sunsets. During the dry season rangers give informative talks about the area. Ubirr is also one of the better known rock art sites in Kakadu. The "galleries" have simple, red-ochre style, as well as as more recent "X-ray" style paintings. Ubirr is not accessible during the wet season.

Jim Jim Falls

Whether the falls are furious with water in the wet or the merest trickle in the dry, this majestic waterfall is a sight to behold, at the end of a four-wheel drive track in the southern escarpment country of Kakadu National Park. Set in the red ochre of the Arnhem Land escarpment and boasting white sandy beaches and sparkling clear water, it is worth the nine hundred metre walk across rocks to appreciate this unique area. Jim Jim Falls is a must see for all visitors to Kakadu.

Yellow Water
Yellow Water billabong is brimming with native flora and fauna and is located near the small settlement of Cooinda. It  is home to crocodiles, wild horses, buffalo and other wildlife. The billabong, which floods to join other waterways during the wet season, also attracts millions of migratory birds each year. Fresh water mangroves line the shore, and the water is dotted with beautiful pink and white waterlilies. Explore the billabong by boarding a wildlife cruise, or enjoy and unforgettable Top End sunset from the viewing platform.

Nourlangie Rock

A one and a half kilometre circular walk will take you past an ancient Aboriginal shelter and several exceptional art sites. For the adventurous, there is also a moderately steep climb to Gunwarddehwardde lookout, which provides impressive views of Kakadu's escarpment and Nourlangie Rock.

Arnhem Land

Arnhem Land is located in the middle of Australia's northern coast and bounded by Kakadu National Park, the Arafura Sea and the Gulf of Carpentaria. This Aboriginal owned region is made up of natural coastlines, deserted islands, rivers heaving with fish, lush rainforests and towering escarpments. This land is one of the last great unspoiled areas of the world. It's small population is primarily indigenous, whose traditional Aboriginal culture remains largely intact. The didgeridoo orginated in Arnhem Land, and the area is also world renowned for it's distinctive, authentic Aboriginal art.

Mamukala Wetlands

Mamukala is striking all year but is at it's most dramatic in the late dry season (Sept-Oct) when thousands of magpie geese flock to feed. An observation platform allows you to view the birdlife while a mural illustrates the seasonal changes that occur through the year. There is also a three kilometre walk adjacent to the wetlands.
